The short version
If you sell into the EU and any of your listing images were generated or substantially altered by AI, you need two things from 2 August 2026: the file marked in a machine-readable way, and a disclosure a human can read where the image is published.
The embedded IPTC and XMP marking covers the first. A sentence in your listing description covers the second. C2PA is a stronger version of the first, useful in a dispute, and read by fewer places than its advocates imply.
A visible corner label covers neither requirement on its own, because it is not machine-readable and it does not travel into the listing text. It is a good idea anyway on marketplaces where buyers open the image before the description.
